The first Valentines ever sent are attributed to Charles, Duke of Orleans, who penned about 60 love poems while imprisoned in the Tower of London.

Locked away for twenty-five years, Charles sent the first in 1419 to his wife in France. The Duchess would have done well to send a Valentine of her own—a Special Edition “His” Valentine’s Day Journal. Fully lined in black leather with 120 premium Frankfurt Crème pages, the Duke would have had space enough for his poems and then some. And just to get a fella started, we’re enclosing a few love poems at the beginning.
